    this holy instant.

    sometimes, i write poetry.
most times, poetry writes me …
this one is called “this holy instant.”

“The final awakening is the embracing of the darkness into the light. That means embracing our humanity as well as our divinity.

What we go from is being born into our humanity, sleep walking for a long time, until we awaken and start to taste our divinity. And then want to finally get free.

As long as we grab at our divinity and push away our humanity, we aren’t free.

If you want to be free, you can’t push away anything.
You have to embrace it all.
    It’s all God.”

everything collapses into one blink of an eye

alchemizing the pain into art o’er here … hard times are definitely good for at least one reason: they can inspire creativity.

a love letter to myself on my 20th birthday

    birthday gift to myself.

20 was the craziest, hardest, & most beautiful year of my life so far — it was filled with an abundance of highs & lows: adventures, lessons, growth, hard decisions, new experiences, reflection, mindfulness, & reconnecting with the child within me :)) … i moved back from colorado, transferred schools, visited hawaii for a month, saw countless concerts, created some timeless memories, & was surrounded by some pretty awesome peeps through it all.

excited for all of the magic this year has to bring.

    here’s to 21!

(edit: little did i know the next year i would be bit by a tick and it would turn my life as i knew it completely upside down… but i also would fall in love with my best friend, become closer with myself and God than ever before, and write over 200 poems in one semester. i am so glad i had the balls to go and see the world at such a young age before i got so sick… i often think about how much more challenging this would’ve been if i hadn’t went out on a total whim and did the Hawaii, western U.S., and. Portugal trip… or if i would’ve never said screw it / listened to my heart and flown to georgia to meet up with some boy i had met over the phone. i would have had so many regrets… i am so proud of this girl. and i can’t wait to continue adding to her list of adventures… although i know the greatest one of all begins right here and now within my very own heart. no more chasing.

    oh, how you’ll fly

an oldie but a goodie :) this video was deeply inspired by a poet i admired at the time named miles carter. he actually ended up re-tweeting it. let’s just say that senior year of high school version of kaitlyn dropped to her knees the grass outside of work and bawled (happy tears).
